Danube Festival of the Senses in the summer of 2021

The Association of Danube River Municipalities “Danube” plans to hold the first of its kind Danube Festival of the Senses in 2021. This new initiative is similar in nature to the “Memofish” project which promotes the heritage of fishing communities in Bulgaria and Romania. The Danube Festival of the Senses will be held in the context of the celebrations of the International Danube Day and will be realized with the financial support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, as part of the project “Danube Experience – thematic tours and festival of the senses”.

The project aim is to launch a concept for experience tourism in Danube Bulgaria. The pilot edition of the festival will promote tourism services and products in several thematic categories: cuisine, wine, adventure, culture and history.  To make this happen, the Association will develop three thematic tourist tours of the senses, cooperating with the local communities in the Danube municipalities and will try to identify for each settlement their unique traditions, cuisine and adventurous experiences.

Therefore, the ADO “Danube” initiates a study aimed at collecting data on the potential for and offering experiences, which will make it possible to develop concepts for three thematic rounds of the senses “Danube Experience” – for the Northwestern, North Central and Northeastern Danube regions.
