The participants in the family trip within project "MEMOFISH - memory and future. Stories about the Danube Civilization" experienced authentic fishing stories, local cuisine, amazing natural landscapes and they got to know the folklore traditions of Dobruja and Lunca Dunării. Three Bulgarian and seven Romanian families familiarized themselves with the fisheries communities on the Danube. The trip was organized by the Romanian partners Association „Acces“.
The tourist route included sites and meetings in the ditrict of Calarasi, in the region of the lakes Mostistea and Galatui in Romania, and on the Bulgarian side – meeting and getting to know fishermen and their traditions in Vetren, Srebarna and Silistra. The participants tried local specialties like a Lipovanian fish soup and papanasi and participated in the culinary festival „Foods of Dobruja“, which takes place in Srebarna.
The tourist routes, created within the project, combine places for visit in Bulgaria and Romania within the same trip, and are developed in three variations - for large groups, for youths and for a family tourism. Their goal is to present the tourist potential of five pairs of villages, whose fishing heritage was documented through a one-of-a-kind audiovisual research under project „Memofish“.
The website, where the routes and audiovisual materials created during the research of the fisheries communities in Romania and Bulgaria will be published, will be released soon. Access to the resources will be free and everyone, who wants to familiarize themselves with the fishermen's heritage and visit places with preserved nature, will be able to use them.
