Festivals and concerts by the Danube River

The Danube River and the Vidin region traditionally welcome thousands of tourists attracted by beautiful nature, opera, folklore and culinary festivals, water, air and land attractions. More than 380 cruise ships with more than 50,000 foreign tourists are expected at the port of Vidin, there are also many Bulgarians rediscovering this part of the country.

Among the most popular local festivals is the "Opera of the Peaks" near Belogradchik, which this year is between August 5 and 21. Ballet and opera art on the Belogradchik rocks this year will be staged by "Nabucco", "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi, "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini. On August 12, 13 and 14, spectators will be able to watch under the open sky the ballet productions "Bayaderka", with music by Ludwig Minkus, "One Thousand and One Nights" - ballet by Fikret Amirov and "Corsair" - ballet by Adolf Adam. On the last four days of the festival, the audience will be captivated by the musical "Mamma Mia" directed by maestro Plamen Kartalov, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulveus.

For tourists, Belogradchik offers balloon attractions, bicycles, dragon boating in Rabish Lake. Special tasting tours in the region are organised for lovers of wine and local food, as well as a boat or motorboat trip along the Danube.

On July 8 and 9, Vidin welcomes famous Bulgarian performers as soloists, who will take part in the Summer Evenings of Opera and Operetta. Conducted by maestro Grigor Palikarov, the Vidin Symphony and Municipal Choir "Gena Dimitrova" - Pleven and soloists will present Verdi's opera "The Troubadour", and conducted by Dimitar Kosev - the operetta "The Queen of Chardasha".

At the end of August and the beginning of September is the traditional seven-day Vidin fair with over 100 years of history.

At the end of August, bikers from Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and other countries meet in Vidin in the traditional motorcycle meeting, which takes place over three days. There are also many admirers who come for the Retro Parade of Old Cars Vidin 2022. In the middle of September, the city attracts cyclists from different countries for the traditional bicycle ride along the Danube - "Danube Ultra".

Tourist exhibition "Weekend tourism" and Festival of tourist entertainment and animations will take place in Ruse from June 16 to 18. The accompanying program this year includes a parade of vintage cars and motorcycles, a parade of the Municipal Brass Bands, as well as concerts by famous artists.

International tuning festival "MASKA" will be organized from 1st to 3rd July this year at the training ground in "DZS" district in Ruse. The program is diverse and includes an exhibition of tuned cars, a drift show, off-road on a specially built track, as well as concerts by famous artists.

At the end of the summer season - in mid-September, Ruse invites to an international festival of living statues. The event will be organised for the seventh time. It is the only one of its kind in Bulgaria. Actors will transform into living statues telling stories. The program also includes performances by street artists, jugglers and musicians.

There will be a "Garash" cake festival in the Danube city on September 17 this year. Everyone will be able to taste the sweet temptation and remember that the recipe for the famous cake was created in Rousse.

At the beginning of next month - on June 5, the fifty-second edition of the "Golden Tit" folklore assembly will take place in the Youth Park in Ruse. The music forum is of a competitive nature and hundreds of performers will perform on its stage - dance and singing ensembles, instrumentalists, storytellers, folk customs groups from the Ruse region and other regions of Bulgaria.
