Great interest in "Memofish" routes

05.02.2020

The project "Memofish", implemented by the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber and four partner organizations from the two neighbouring countries, managed to arouse the interest of both end tourists and travel agencies from Bulgaria and Romania. The activities officially ended at the end of January, but the visits to the site memofish.eu continue to grow, and by the spring of this year the number of trips on the routes developed under the project will increase.

Memofish.eu presents plenty of information on tourist visits in five cross-border areas that have preserved the traditions of fishing communities. Each of the proposals is developed in three variants - for large groups, for families and for youth companies, and combines places to visit in Bulgaria and Romania within the same trip. In the Romanian version of the site the most visited are the travel options for large groups, and in the Bulgarian - the proposals for youth tourism.

Natural landmarks, historical sites, attractions, places for accommodation and meals, transport are described. For each settlement of the routes, visitors of the website can find photos, videos, movies and other resources that are provided free of charge to both tourists and travel companies or institutions involved in the regional development.

In addition, the site provides strategic documents supporting institutions that would benefit from the fisheries heritage as a tool for sustainable local and regional development, combining environmental protection with social prosperity. The documents developed within the project are useful for regional and local authorities, which this year will begin the process of analyzing and planning the territorial development for the next 7 years.

Project "Memofish. Memory and future. Stories about the Danube civilization“ was implemented by an union headed by the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with partners Association "Parallel - Silistra", the Regional Historical Museum of Ruse, Association "Access" - Calarasi and the Local Initiative Fisheries Group of Calarasi.
