An academic discussion session under the slogan “Culture matters! – cross-border cooperation for the management of the cultural and historical heritage” will take place on October 18th, 2019 in the Silistra branch of the Ruse university. It is part of project "Memofish. Memory and future. Stories about the Danube Civilization“ and is a joint initiative of Ruse university and Association „Paralel-Silistra“, project partner.
European policies for preserving and managing the cultural and historical heritage will be presented during the session, the emphasis being on examples from the Danube region. The event participants will look at the document “Culture matters!”, created for the project and will discuss the opportunities, which the cross-border partnership provides for better management of the local cultural resources.
Representatives of the academic community and cultural institutes from the Silistra - Calarasi region are invited to participate in the event, which, in turn, will have the opportunity to present projects or scientific researches on the preservation and usage of the tangible and intangible heritage in support of the development of regional tourism.
The project "Memofish. Memory and future. Stories about the Danube Civilization“ is implemented by five organizations, with Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry being the lead partner, with the financial aid of programme Interreg V-A Romania – Bulgaria.
